The front face of the M817 features a closed grille with illuminated trim and a glowing "M" logo, emphasizing futuristic aesthetics and high recognizability. The off-road variant comes equipped with a split-type bumper directly connected to the subframe to enhance the approach angle. The urban variant adopts a body-color integrated bumper for a more streamlined appearance. From the side, the off-road model features wide black fender flares, 18-inch wheels, and 35-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain tires, delivering an aggressive presence. The urban version offers body-colored fenders, 20-inch wheels, and Continental 275/60 R20 road tires for everyday drivability. All trims are equipped with frameless electric side mirrors, supporting power adjustment, heating, auto-folding, and reverse tilt functions.
At the rear, the M817 sports cross-shaped taillights and a side-hinged tailgate integrated with an external storage box. The hidden exhaust design conceals a dual-outlet setup for both aesthetics and performance. In terms of size, the M817 measures 5100 mm (L) × 1998 mm (W) × 1919/1899 mm (H), with a 3005 mm wheelbase. Positioned as a full-size luxury SUV, it has a curb weight of 2761 kg.

Inside, the M817 inherits the interior design language of the M-Hero 917, featuring a clean and symmetrical dashboard layout with a 10.25-inch floating digital instrument panel and a 15.6-inch central touchscreen. Unlike the M-Hero 917, the M817 omits the co-pilot entertainment screen for a sleeker front cabin experience. It adopts a column-mounted gear selector, piano-style physical buttons for the climate system, and advanced features including a W-HUD head-up display, streaming rear-view mirror, rear-seat touchscreen, and front rotary interaction control.
The five-seat layout is wrapped in Nappa leather, offering massage, heating, and ventilation for the front seats. Additional highlights include an intelligent fragrance system, ionized air conditioning, an 18-speaker Dynaudio sound system, and 256-color ambient lighting.

According to MIIT (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) data, the Mengshi M817 is powered by a plug-in hybrid system that pairs a 1.5T engine with an electric motor. The 1.5T engine delivers a maximum output of 145 kW. The vehicle is expected to feature either a tri-motor or quad-motor configuration, coupled with CATL's custom-built "Xiaoyao" battery pack designed for extreme off-road scenarios. This ensures a perfect balance between powerful performance and fuel efficiency. The M817 also supports trailer towing with a maximum capacity of 2.5 tons.
