On November 6, foreign media reported that Tesla officially opened its Supercharger network to non-Tesla electric vehicles in Sweden, making it the second country to do so after the Netherlands. This move marks a significant step for Tesla toward achieving a globally shared charging network.
On Tuesday, Tesla's X Charging Account announced that all Supercharger stations in Sweden are now open to non-Tesla EV owners. To celebrate this milestone, Tesla will provide free charging services to all EV owners on Wednesday, whether they own a Tesla or another brand.

Tesla stated that when non-Tesla EV owners use Supercharger stations, a temporary authorization amount of 104 Swedish kronor will appear in their bank accounts. However, once charging is complete, the authorization will be automatically canceled to ensure that owners do not incur additional costs.
Sweden has a high penetration rate of electric vehicles, with EV market share exceeding 60% this year. Tesla's decision to open its Supercharger network will likely further stimulate growth in the Swedish EV market. Tesla previously launched a similar pilot program in the Netherlands and has expressed interest in opening Supercharger stations worldwide.
Notably, while Tesla has opened some Supercharger locations to other brands in South Korea and the United States, Sweden is the first country to fully open its network. Last year, Tesla announced plans to open all U.S. Supercharger stations to non-Tesla vehicles and has reached a preliminary agreement with automakers regarding the North American Charging Standard (NACS).
