On November 20, Geely Auto Group announced that the first batch of official designated vehicles for the 9th Harbin Asian Winter Games-Geely methanol-hydrogen-electric hybrid vehicles-was launched at the Geely Jinzhong Base. A total of 350 fourth-generation Emgrand methanol-hydrogen-electric hybrid vehicles will serve this Asian Winter Games. This marks the first large-scale use of methanol vehicles at an international event.

Officials stated that the fourth-generation Emgrand methanol-hydrogen-electric hybrid vehicle can start quickly even in low-temperature conditions in high-altitude and frigid regions. Additionally, it can recycle engine waste heat to reduce cabin heating power consumption, ensuring both environmental friendliness and stability.
The vehicle achieves a 40% energy-saving rate, with an alcohol consumption of 9.2L per 100 kilometers, and reduces carbon emissions by 42% compared to gasoline vehicles of the same class. For every 10,000 kilometers traveled, it reduces carbon emissions by 0.8 tons.

At the 2024 Green Methanol Energy Industry Development Forum in October, Li Shufu, Chairman of Geely Holding Group, highlighted that Geely's next-generation methanol passenger cars utilize the "alcohol-hydrogen power" super-alcohol-electric hybrid technology.
This technology enables the flexible mixing of methanol and gasoline in any proportion within the same fuel tank. Combined with the PHEV plug-in hybrid system, it allows for the seamless integration of alcohol, electricity, and gasoline as energy sources.
