On May 7, 2025, Volvo Cars officially launched the all-new Volvo XC70, the first model built on the brand-new SMA Super Hybrid Architecture. As Volvo Cars' first long-range super hybrid SUV, the Volvo XC70 boasts a pure electric range of 200 kilometers, making it the plug-in hybrid vehicle with the longest all-electric range in Volvo's history to date. The XC70 is equipped with the SMA Super Hybrid system featuring a "four-motor all-wheel-drive" architecture.This system integrates a P1 motor, P2 motor, and a rear-axle-driven P4 motor, combined with a 3-speed DHT (Dedicated Hybrid Transmission). It enables flexible front and rear wheel drive distribution between the engine and electric motors, significantly enhancing low-speed high-torque output.
