As early as 1952, engineer Hetrick drove his wife and daughter and encountered a car accident on the way. Fortunately, Hetrick instinctively protected his daughter's head and was safe in the end. As an engineer, Hetrick was thinking, why not equip the car with a buffer device? With rich engineering knowledge, Hetrick developed an inflatable airbag in just two weeks and applied for a patent in 1953. However, due to the problem of low sensitivity, it was not used commercially.

It was not until 1967 that Allen, also an engineer, invented an airbag controlled by an electromechanical sensor, which fundamentally solved the problem of sensitivity and was used commercially in September of the same year. The airbag at this time is the modern airbag. With the rapid development of automobiles, the functions of airbags are becoming more and more perfect. Airbags are indispensable for driving safety, which greatly improves the survival rate of people in the car when an accident occurs.
